Facial hair needs to be handled with great care. If you are not using the right products and tools to shape your beard, then you are basically inviting problems for your facial hair. For example, you should never use your fingers to get your facial hair in shape. You can easily use a beard comb or a beard brush to get this task done. Managing your beard is your ticket to being the guy with the most impressive facial hair. Given the fact that sporting a beard has become a global trend, a man with a stunning beard is bound to catch the attention of the ladies. But it is not nearly as simple as it sounds. There is a lot involved in beard maintenance.

At times, it is the beard itself that makes it difficult for you to take care of your facial hair. The texture of your beard often becomes rugged, coarse and dry. Under such circumstances, handling the bear leads to hair loss and hair damage. The coarseness of the beard could also result in skin irritation and rashes. If you are faced with such a predicament, then your number one priority is to find a way in which you can restore the original texture of your beard. In other words, you have to figure out how you can make the beard less dry and coarse.

Dryness can be alleviated by moisturizing and softening the beard. A lot of people make the faulty assumption that rubbing the beard with water is enough to soften it. That’s part of the trick, but there’s a whole lot more to it. If you are not sure of how to soften your beard, here are some easy tips that you can follow:

1) Beard Wash and Warm Water

What is the first thing that you should do in the morning after answering the call of nature? Brush your teeth. Once that is done, you can proceed to cleaning your beard. Cleaning the beard is a very simple and effective way of making it softer. But in order to do this, there are two things that you need to make use of. Firstly, wash your beard with warm water. The water does not have to be scorching hot. In fact, washing your beard with scorching hot water could turn out to be quite detrimental. Lukewarm water is good enough to get the job done. After the initial washing is done, you should take a few drops of high quality beard wash and rub it on your beard. The beard wash is a chemical agent that will remove contaminants (both organic and minerals) from your beard. If the contaminants keep accumulating in your beard for an extended period of time, then your beard will slowly lose its moisture and become very dry. As you should know, dry beard is hardly ever soft.

2) Beard Shampoo and Beard Conditioner

When you are taking a shower, remember to apply a specialized beard shampoo and beard conditioner on your facial hair. You don’t need to do this on a daily basis. Applying these two products thrice a week should be enough to get your beard in shape and improve its overall texture. The shampoo offers advanced and thorough cleaning of the beard while the conditioner helps to further soften your precious facial hair. Take your sweet time in applying these two products. There is no need to rush in the shower. When you are washing the shampoo and the conditioner off, make sure that you use lukewarm water. Avoid hot water under all circumstances.

3) Beard Balm and Beard Oil

Once you step out of the shower, you must apply two other products to further improve the texture of your facial hair. The first is the beard oil. The purpose of the beard oil is to moisturize the beard, clean it and nourish it from deep within. Well nourished facial hair is much softer than facial hair which is deprived of essential nutrients. Make sure that you use a beard comb or a beard brush to evenly distribute the beard oil all over your facial hair. Once the work of the beard oil is complete, you can move on to the beard balm. This product keeps your beard soft, holds it in place and makes it easier for you to style it. You could use a beard wax in place of a beard balm, depending on the length of the beard.

4) Beard Softener

The beard softener is a relatively new product with a very special formula. There aren’t too many varieties of this product available in the market given its novelty. It basically is a specialized product for correcting the texture of your beard. The beard softener does not necessarily have to be a replacement for the beard shampoo and conditioner. It can work as a supplement to those two essential products.
